Earlier this week, Pierce County officials announced that passengers who purchased Anderson/Ketron Island ferry tickets online may have been subject to fraud.
The announcement comes after Pierce County received an alert from a customer. County officials said the website operated by americaneagle.com is required by contract to maintain customer security, but in fact, wasn’t secure.
Officials report that the website made the proper corrections to secure their system. The Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the online website contract to determine if any, remedy may be available for Pierce County.
According to Pierce County staff, each customer received an access code for credit monitoring up to one year. Those interested must enroll by February 2, 2018.
